Mutually Encouraged
I long to see you that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong – that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith. Romans 1:11-12
If I was writing this letter to people, I love from a church I used to be a part of, my letter would sound like this… I long to see you so we an catch up, laugh together and go have fun.
Instead Paul takes his relationship up to an amazing place. He longs to be with the church in Rome, so “you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith.” Wow! That’s the sister or brother in Christ I need to be around. I’m blessed to have friends and family that encourage my faith and I long to be with them for that very reason.
Don’t avoid these friends; instead, seek them out. We grow stronger by being that beautiful gift to each other.
God, thank you for the people in my life who encourage my faith. May I be that person for them.
