Guard Me
“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7
My family tells the story of how I slept through the last hour of the movie, Lord of the Rings, which was a fierce battle of control. Yet I peacefully slept. Tuning it all out.
When battles are raging all around us, which will happen, God reminds us to come to Him for shelter. He is our fortress. He is prepared to put His peace all around us to guard what is most vulnerable, our heart and mind.
Proverbs 4:23 “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”
Romans 8:6 “The mind governed by the flesh is death; but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.”
Let God guard your heart and mind.
How did I sleep peacefully during the Lord of the Rings battle? I knew the ending. Same with my life. I know who wins the battle. Jesus said, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart I have overcome the world.” John 16:33. Because of what Christ did for me, I can know His plans and be protected.
Lord, turn your face towards me and give me peace. I claim your promise that you will guard my heart and mind and give me your peace.
