Blessed by an Encourager
Who is an encourager in your life?
“They returned…strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the faith.” Acts 14:22 NIV
Paul and Barnabas, returning in their travels to the churches, had this goal in mind – “strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the faith.” From this the churches grew in number and established a place in their regions. Paul and Barnabas moved on to share the good news and continued to strengthen and encourage the churches.
I have been so blessed to have had such a person in my life. Actually…many encouragers in my life have come along and strengthened my faith. Certain characteristics resound in these people. They strengthen me by sharing God’s Word in my life and hold me accountable to it. They show up when I need them and speak words of encouragement to help me keep going and lift me up. I have been so blessed by God that He sent them to me when I most needed an encourager.
Thank you, God, for your blessings through the people you sent my way. Use me to be a blessing to others.
Challenge: If you don’t have that someone as your encourager, pray that God shows you who that could be for you. And then pray that God shows you who you can be an encouragement to this week.
Question: What are the characteristics of an encourager for you?
