A Kind Word
Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up. Proverbs 12:25
Change is one of the hardest situations to handle. No one wants it or likes it, especially if the change is not in our control. Anxiety settles in quickly because there is the big “unknown” component. There’s a scene in the movie “A Bug’s Life” where a twig drops in the line of ants and panic sets in. We all do the same thing. “What are we going to do?” “What if _____ happens?” Our normal is gone. We find ourselves weighed down. Discouraged.
A kind word can change someone’s attitude and cheer up the heart. How? Perspective. We hear a clearer perspective from someone outside of the situation. A view that shares who God is in the situation and how to put your trust in God. A kind word that someone believes in you and believes in God. Or just the kind words that someone is coming along side you.
Take time today to give a kind word and cheer up someone’s heart.
God, thank you for the people in my life who cheer me up with a word of encouragement. Show me who needs a kind word today.
